Time Spent

Well Happy New Year everybody. This year I decided to keep a little blog of myself, so people can keep up with where I am and what I'm doing. I know I'm horrible at silly stuff like that... you know 'keeping in touch' and all that other touchy feely crap - but I figute if I don't keep some contact with the world I may actually turn into some of these polar bears I'm surrounded by!

So, if you didn't know, I'm staking out Churchill Manitoba for a while. It's also know as the polar
bear capital of the world and I think I can say with no hesitation - it lives up to it's name sake. Sometimes it seems like there are more bears than people up here. The tourists come from all over just to see 'em. But they aint no joke. About a month ago I was parked my tractor trailer cab off in an area that's kind of scenic and out of the way. I had the day off and I was in between places for a while. Anyway, after I ate I was feeling lazy and just tossed my excess grub outside. Duh. Got some unexpected visitors that night walking over the back of my cab. These things are terminators coverred in white fur. If somehow one of em got their dander up they could pull open my cab like a can of sardines. I just laid their still until they went away ... but damn!

Weather up here is pretty nice today. If you like the arctic.. -15 degrees F. And it's snowing as usual. We get some snow almost everyday. Any piece of moisture from the coast just turns right into snow around here. And I don't think it's going to break 0 degrees this week. This time of year - up here - you need about 70 layers of clothing and a bottle of Jack Daniels with you at all times.

Another interesting thing about Churchill this time of year is that we only get about 2.5 hours of sunlight up here. It's really weird.. sometimes if you're not paying attention you forget what day it is. A common joke up here is people asking each other what day is it - and people answer 'winter'. Ok not so funny - but if you were here.. but laughs.

Alright enough for tonight.. tomorrow I'll tell you about my new truck and my new hauling routes across Canada which start at the end of the week.

Cheers.
